The purpose of this book is to provide a handy reference work for those who serve as members of local zoning commissions, planning commissions, and planning and zoning commissisons. It is written to assist local commissioners, not trained in the law, to perform the duties and discharge the responsibilities imposed upon them by the General Statutes. It is not intended to be a detailed treatise on the law of zoning or the doings of the zoning commission, planning commission, or planning and zoning commission. Commission members are cautioned to request the advice of their town or city attorney when questions requiring interpretation of the law are presented to them.
